Artwork: Hutia te Rito – Painted for Megan by her parents, Jackie and Cliff Loyd, of Te Kaha, Aotearoa New Zealand. This taonga embodies their aroha and creativity, and serves as a visual expression of whakapapa, whenua, and the interconnection of all things — a reminder of where she comes from and who she stands for. The name Hutia te Rito is drawn from a well-known whakataukī that speaks to nurturing the centre of the flax bush — a powerful metaphor for the care and protection of our people, culture, and future generations.
